Today’s class got a little intense.
Talking about the Henrietta Lacks book, we had to remember that everything we
said was just our opinion and we weren’t right. I think that the doctors were
wrong for not asking permission for her cells. I don’t have a problem that it
helped science and all that, just the common sense and respect of asking her
first would’ve been nice.
We
also talked about if we were to read a non-fiction story and being really into
the book and then finding out that the story wasn’t true or that some of the
big parts were made up. I wouldn’t be as shocked over something little like a
person’s name or what they looked like. It would be a big deal for them to exaggerate
something to make it bigger than what it was. Like in the story we read at the beginning
of class, the guy said he was in jail for 3 months, and actually was in jail
for a couple hours.
